Resort Review:
Fairfield Grand Desert Resort,
Las Vegas, Nevada

We just got back from the Fairfield Las Vegas - Grand Desert where it was really HOT! 100 to 115 degrees the whole week.

We were one of the first to stay at this beautiful new resort. We checked in on June 23, 2001 and checked out June 30 - (Sat to Sat).

This was the grand opening week but it was just a soft opening since it not 100% complete yet. They had 70 check-ins on Sat. and 20 check-ins on Sunday. It is very nice and we really enjoyed our stay.

The first building is open and is 12 stories tall (L-Shape). TEN (10) Penthouse Suites are located on the 12th floor

One Penthouse Suite is located on the 4th floor - Suite 421. It is a 3 bedroom unit with a balcony overlooking the pool area and it is the ONLY unit that has a balcony. (This unit is supposed to be the model unit when finished.)

Only part of the units are currently available, as some of the units are not completely furnished yet. However, the pool and fitness room are both open, located on the 3rd floor. The swimming pool and spa are open from 8 A.M. to 11 P.M. and towels are provided.

Our unit was on the 9th floor - (Suite 915). We had a beautiful TWO Bedroom Deluxe Suite with 2 full baths - everything was brand new.

  • A full kitchen with a breakfast bar,
  • GE Appliances - Refrigerator with Ice Maker,
  • Range, Microwave, Dishwasher, Garbage Disposal, and Lots of Small Appliances
  • Dinnerware and Glasses for (8) eight
  • A dining area with table and booth along the wall plus 5 kitchen chairs
  • Hunter Ceiling Fans in each room.
  • 3 Televisions, VCR and Stereo (The Living Room TV was 25 inches with built in VCR and the bedroom TVs were smaller, maybe 19" or 20".)
  • Jacuzzi Tub and Tile Shower in Master Bath
  • Plus a stackable Washer and Dryer

Please note that the resort does not provide Hair Dryers!

We were the first to stay in this unit and we hated to leave it to even go out it was so nice! From our 3 sets of windows we could see the Strip and we were directly in line with the following resorts: Monte Carlo, Polo Towers, Carriage House, Aladdin, Paris, Ballys.

NOTE:

  • All the units that end with an odd number face the pool and the strip
  • The even number units face the back with some facing the airport
  • There are soda and snack vending machines located on each floor near the elevators.
  • There are four elevators off the lobby
  • They have a small garage that is really nice and it helps to keep your car cool and out of the sun.
  • From the building to the corner of Harmon and the strip is..... 8/10 mile - We rented a 2001 Buick Regal (nice).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT THE RESORT
  • NO RECREATIONAL VEHICLES OF ANY SIZE ARE ALLOWED to be parked on the resort property

The staff at this resort was one of the nicest we have ever meet - Especially Jay. Jay works in the Fairshare Office on the 3rd floor. He is very professional and an excellent business man. He helped checked us in and spent a lot of time talking to us about Fairfield and was extremely helpful and friendly

The bellmen and the maintenance man were both very helpful, too.

In addition:

  • The Pool is large and very nice - rectangular shape - nothing fancy - with plenty of chairs and towels available
  • The Pool and Spa are located on the 3rd floor with a view of the strip (skyline) - NO Pool side service yet!
  • Some landscaping around the doorway & pool area - but not much
  • They do have a Great Health Club - Fitness Center with Tanning Beds and Sauna and Dressing Room with Lockers
  • Next to the fitness center they have a cute little children`s play room and game room
  • They PLAN to have a Food Court and Multi Purpose Room on the 3rd floor right of the elevator - (not open yet)

This resort was so very quite we did not see or hear anyone or anything. It was opening week and the resort had less than 100 families. A great time to stay at a new resort - not crowded

We did have a few minor problems like a shower head missing in the master bath a light bulb or two missing (not important) and our one smaller TV was not connected to cable yet. Everything got fixed and the maintenance man, whose name is Mike, was just a wonderful friendly guy.

Everyone just stopped and talked to you and made you feel at home.. really!

Fairfield Grand Desert Resort plans to build another L-Shaped building opposite of this building, with more amenities. However, when they begin the new building I am sure you will hear construction noise and you will lose the beautiful view of the strip from this building

It sounded like the new building will be the main and more prominent building, with a fancier entrance and two-story foyer with grand piano.

No shuttle bus service available yet - It is 8/10 mile to Harmon and the strip. However, please be careful walking up to the strip or down the street to the Hard Rock Cafe. The surrounding neighborhood does not look real safe.

The resort does have night time security! They ride around and keep an eye on the cars in the garage and the people checking in and out. They also have a guard posted in the lobby at night.

All in all this week's vacation was a real treat for us

We have stayed in many a motel room in Las Vegas over the past 15 or more years and only once before have we stayed at a timeshare in Las Vegas - the new HGVC Hilton Grand Vacation Club near the Convention Center (Last November we stayed for two weeks around Thanksgiving)

They are both really nice resorts

Timeshare living is the best!

Hope this answers everyone's questions
