30th Anniversary Surprise -- courtesy of The Bay Club at Waikoloa Village A-Bay, Waikoloa When Bay Club owner Harold Hull insisted that his wife Kathy join him for a walk on the beach for a last sunset before they returned home to Missouri, the last thing she expected to find was a minister and a stereo playing the Hawaiian Wedding Song. Plans for the ceremony had begun almost a year earlier when Harold contacted webmaster Steve Ward. "I had been emailing Harold back and forth for nearly three years, and although we had never met in real life a very real friendship had blossomed from our correspondence," said Ward. "When he asked for help with the ceremony, Gloria at Owner Services pointed him in the direction of Debbie Cravatta at Paradise Weddings, which is a company that the resort has had excellent results with in the past." Debbie and Harold began emailing and setting up the details to his wishes. "Kathy and I had been introduced to the music of "Brother Iz" on our last visit to the islands, and I had wanted our favorite song played during the ceremony. Debbie had the cd ready, and I don't think there was a dry eye as we listened to the words of "In Dis Life". The entire ceremony was just perfect, and exactly what I had wanted." While Harold and Kathy's family was on the mainland, some of their Bay Club friends were able to attend. Gloria Johnston, head of Owner Services, along with Bob Bergstadt, who was an OPC when the Hulls became owners and is now on the Sales staff, were there with Steve Ward to witness the ceremony. "It really reminds us of how beautiful and romantic a place Hawaii really is, and how lucky we are to live here," said Gloria. "Debbie did a wonderful job and it was a real joy to be able to be involved in this sort of event." After the ceremony more photos were taken by the professional photographer as the sun began setting, and then the happy couple went out for an especially romantic dinner as a final part of Harold's surprise. We are certain this is an evening that these Bay Club owners will remember as one of their best in the islands! |
