F-11 or V-1?

At age 101, the Queen Mother of England, Elizabeth, who passed away in her sleep, was buried with full honors this week. The royals were surprised to see the outpouring of national honor from the commoners of her kingdom. As usual, the chattering classes missed the significance of the honor. It was to pause for two minutes and remember that in the height of fear and terror in England during World War II, then Queen refused to leave London and endured the attacks with her fellow citizens.

The weapon of choice during those dark and dangerous days was a pilotless drone aircraft called the V-1. It was filled with fuel and bombs and generally aimed towards England from the forces of Hitler Germany. When it ran out of fuel, it crashed and exploded. It hit civilians, women, children, anything. It could be manufactured in quantity at low expense. It spread terror. But it couldn't be aimed at a specific target.

We march forward 55 plus years. The Palestinians attack Israel with a weapon they called the F-11. That's a bomb delivered by two human legs. It can be manufactured at even lower expense. It can be aimed. It produces terror because its indiscriminant attacks on civilians, women and children are a matter of choice, not a limitation of the weapon. It is more efficient, more accurate and of less expense to the aggressor than the V-1.

But the issue is the same. The use of the V-1 was a tactic, not a cause. The use of
F-11 homicide bombers is a tactic, not a cause. It was Nazi Germany that launched the
V-1. It is absurd to say that if the V-1 were no more, Nazism would be no more. The same with the F-11. Were its tactical use to be eliminated, the threat would remain. The cause would not have been defeated, just one of its methods. The cause, let us be clear, is Arab expansionism often cloaked in the guise of the Wahabbi sect of radical Islam. That is what provides the fuel on which the F-11 burns.

The failure of the Powell mission to the Middle East has yet to be fully appreciated. Powell has rehabilitated and restored the legitimacy of Yasser Arafat and shown that the moral clarity of the Bush administration's war against terrorism need no longer be taken seriously. Secretary Powell set a new standard of efficiency in the Middle East by failing even before he arrived. Once again, doubts over America's ability to see anything through to the end have been confirmed. "The one thing certain about terrorists," says columnist David Hackworth," is that when they are not losing, they are winning." The Powell visit, as the Arabs and European's intend, prevents a military victory by Israel and promotes the United States into the position of being officially to blame for whatever happens next.

In the time of the German attacks on London, the Queen did not budge. Her Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, wrote" In war: resolution. In defeat: defiance. In victory: magnanimity. In peace: goodwill." Secretary Powell proposes to "get back to peace talks." What are peace talks except a discussion of exactly how much Israel will give away to stop the F-11 attacks? Here is a test of how lacking in seriousness the "political talks" are. How about peace for land instead of land for peace? That is to say, Palestine lives in peace for a year and receives a percentage of land. A second year, more land, etc. Will that be discussed?

Of course not. What will be on the table is how many tangible assets Israel will give away today for intangible and easily reversible words promised for tomorrow. Yasser Arafat has already solemnly agreed to 11 cease fires. A measure of the current insanity is the idea that Arafat is "the only one to talk to" and therefore he would keep an agreement if one were made. If the "only one to talk to" is untruthful and cannot be believed and has a 30-40 year long history of never keeping an agreement, then there is no one to talk to. There is no partner for peace.

Where is the system that launches F-11s? It is found in the Arab states in combination with a Europeanized American elite, the 32 million Muslim immigrants now living in Europe, Europe's own latent anti-Semitism, its leftist political orientation, dependence on Arab oil and jealousy of American economic success

It is time for George Bush, President of the only nation that defines itself as Judeo-Christian, to regain his resolve before he presides over the creation of another Munich. If the Jews are abandoned again, does anyone believe that another Holocaust will not follow? Or that the Christians aren't next?

Does anyone not honor the bravery and resolution of the Queen Mum? RIP.
