Thank you Mr. Ettkin
-- by Lisa
Ann Schreier
I was going to scream. I was going to write a nasty letter. I was going to insult the
author. But then I thought about it some more. Did anyone other than me read "Timeshare Traveler" from
The Sarasota Herald Tribune, which The Timeshare Beat published on Thursday, May 18th?
My first reaction was to write Mr. Ettkin and tell him to stop wasting our time…"our" being timeshare
salespeople… by sitting through our presentations and making fun of us if he has no intention of buying anything.
But then I thought "thank you!". Thank you Mr. Ettkin. This is precisely what I have been ranting and
raving about now from day one. Why do resort and marketing companies routinely put people in front of us who HAVE
NO INTEREST IN EITHER BEING THERE OR OF PURCHASING OUR PRODUCT? Why aren't they advertising to people who DO have
an interest?
Remember the salesperson I wrote about two weeks ago? I wonder if he read this article. Ah ha! No, he doesn't have
a computer and is content to go on day after day after day pitching timeshares to people who don't want to be there
because that's what he has always been fed from the various resorts that he's been employed.
We as timeshare professionals are asking our prospects to have an open mind and listen to something that they might
not have thought of before, i.e. a vacation ownership plan. Why are we so closed-minded ourselves? Why can't we
see that there just might be a better place to get prospects from? How can we ask of our prospects something that
we aren't willing to do ourselves?
I don't blame Mr. Ettkin at all for taking up Mr. Klepper's time at Casa Del Mar Beach. I blame Mr. Klepper for
routinely taking the tours of Mr. Ettkin's caliber from Casa Del Mar Beach. Mr. Ettkin did nothing wrong. Mr. Ettkin
took advantage of a great deal in Daytona Beach.
And believe it or not… I swear on all that is holy to me… including my brand new live Who CD…. I received EXACTLY
the offer Mr. Ettkin did about two weeks ago in my mailbox.
So, Mr. Klepper and Casa Del Mar Beach… I qualify under your terms and you may just see me there in the very near
future. By the way, I won't be purchasing anything either.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!
