A Wake Up Call & a Challenge to the Timeshare Industry
-- by Lisa Ann Schreier
The terribly tragic events of September 11th will continue to have serious repercussions
for a long time to come.
I have no doubt however that we as Americans will come back stronger than ever. It will take us some time though,
and in some ways things will never be the same.
I issue a challenge to those in the timeshare industry to use this tragedy and this lifestyle change and join me
in changing our industry…forever and for the better.
Thankfully, I suffered no human loss from the attacks and I offer my heartfelt condolences to those of you who
did. However, being employed in the timeshare industry, I am suffering a loss along with thousands of my fellow
coworkers. A loss in monetary terms. No doubt, our industry will suffer a loss of revenue and of people, as many
of you are contemplating a career change.
I am not naïve or pompous enough to believe that I have all the answers. But our industry has relied on one
and only one source of income…the tourist…for our livelihood. Once you take away that source, as is the case now,
our industry is dealt a crippling blow that could take months to recover from…if we ever do.
This is a wake up call to those of us in the industry who feel that the time is right to explore new options, to
think outside the box, to dare to do things differently. There is no simple solution. There is not one right solution
For those of you who dare to dream bigger dreams than the industry has allowed us to date, join with me. There
are a few of you in the industry that I have been fortunate enough to work with that fall into this category. I
trust there are many more who I will soon meet.
We have the ability. We have the desire. We have identified the problem. We can come up with solutions.
I urge you to contact me so that together, we can enter a new and better age for ourselves and for our industry.
