USVI:
ST. THOMAS: QUOTE: --" Crown Global, also known as Clown Global, in St. Thomas has left St. Thomas and St. Martin. I hear their road show is headed for Florida. I would like to hear more on this bunch if anyone has any other information about them."

Anyone know what's going on with that outfit?

  • YOUR COMMENTS:
  • May 24: --" The former principals in Crown Global were: Keith Thompson, and Doug Saunders.

Keith and Doug began the Crown Global operation in late 2004. They raped and pillaged their way through St. Thomas and some other islands.... How many lawsuits are a direct result of the misrepresentations of the " Crown Global Club?"

Keith Thompson and Doug Saunders are reportedly somewhere in south Florida... Is anyone in the states naive enough to fall for their sales pitch?"
  • UPDATE August 2004: Crown Global is still operating in St Maarten. Anybody who wishes to contact either Keith Thomson or Doug Saunders may do so by calling the Crown Global service center in Fort Lauderdale at toll free 866-503-2582. This service center was opened in Fort Lauderdale as a customer support center for all Crown Global Caribbean operations.

UK & EUROPE

The UK:
ENGLAND: Tony Perry, the former chief executive of Allerdale District Council who was sacked in 1991 after the failure of a £ 6 million timeshare project at Keswick Bridge, has won his claim for unfair dismissal and was awarded £ 16,500 after an employment tribunal ruled in his favour.

The claim goes back to the mid-1980s when the then Allerdale District Council set up Allerdale Development Limited Company and borrowed £ 6 million from the Credit Suisse bank to create a timeshare complex at Keswick Bridge.

The project was expected to bring tourists to the town as well as producing good profits for investors. But the ambitious project flopped and was followed by several writs and disputes. A special sub-committee was set up to investigate the affair and various reports were drawn up.

They resulted in Mr Perry being sacked for gross misconduct in December 1991.

Mr Perry was forced to wait so long for a tribunal because he was going through other legal litigation.

SCOTLAND: De Vere Resort Ownership has been granted planning permission for a new £ 50-million ($90-million) golf and leisure resort on the banks of Loch Lomond, north of Glasgow.

The Carrick at Cameron House will be located just over a mile north of De Vere's Cameron House Hotel and comprise 96 five-star timeshare units, a championship-standard all-season golf course, world class spa and extensive leisure facilities. One third of the development will be committed to a nature reserve.

Construction of the golf course will begin this month and the first phase of luxury two- and three-bedroom lodges and the mansion houses will commence in August. The full build schedule will be completed in 2006.

The Loch Lomond Resort will be the fourth timeshare development in the De Vere portfolio. The group also has
Cameron House (since 1996), Slaley Hall, Northumberland (since 1998), and Belton Woods, Lincolnshire (since 1999).

BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR:
LOS CABOS: Interval International has affiliated The Grand Baja Resort & Spa, located just outside of San José del Cabo.

Overlooking the Sea of Cortez, The Grand Baja currently has 127 units, with an additional 227 in the planning stage. It offers a wide array of onsite amenities, including a freeform pool, three restaurants, bar, cafeteria, Internet cafe, children's club, spa, Temazcal (a pre-Hispanic steam bath with medical herbs), water sports, an 18-hole putting green and a mini golf course. Additional activities such as shopping, hiking and biking, four championship-level golf courses, deep-sea fishing, ecological sanctuary or whale-watching tours, visits to a fresh water estuary - the only one of its kind in the state, are available nearby.

Who is heading up sales for this property? Anyone know?

  • YOUR COMMENTS:
  • May 23: --" Grand Baja is being run by Mario Fernandez, whose Father is rumored to be involved with the Green Party. And is in finatial trouble. The Resort is great but only 60 rooms are ready and the spa has to be compleated. Marketing WILL be a problem. Current big guys on the block have all the air port boths bought up and have all the political pull in Cabo."
