PARK CITY, UTAH -- Marriott's new Marriott's Mountainside Vacation Club is taking shape right next door to the
new Legacy Lodge, a 54,000-square-foot project being built at the base village at Park City Mountain Resort. This
will be Marriott's second vacation ownership resort in Park City, the first being Marriott's Summit
Watch at Park City, which consists of luxurious two-bedroom two-bath villas.
The new resort, separated by only an eight-inch space from the Lodge's south wall, is patterned after a mining
theme similar to the Lodge's architecture so as to provide a visual continuity. Marriott received a height-limitation
exemption from the city in order to build the three-story project. It is designed to be a landmark property in
scope, rising strongly against the mountains behind.
Sales are already underway, with occupancy tentatively scheduled for late summer of 2000-- in plenty of time for
the 2002 Olympics in Park City.
Nestled at the foothills of the Park City Mountain Resort, this ski-in / ski-out slopeside resort will offer great convenience for its future owners. The resort’s exterior will be patterned after a classic mountainside lodge which captures the historic mining essence of Park City. Its multi-leveled architecture will offer commanding and unspoiled views of the Wasatch Mountain chain. Features will include a two-level parking deck and an open-air waterfall/ swimming pool/ hot-tub complex walled off by a glass partition to keep out the wind.
The Payday ski lift is a stone's throw away.
The two-bedroom / two-bath villas will have approximately 1,200 sq. feet of space, with the ability to accommodate
up to six people in privacy. As is usual with a Marriott Vacation Club project, the villas will come complete with
a gourmet kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave, full-size refrigerator, and full set of dinnerware, stemware
and cooking utensils; formal living and dining areas; color televisions equipped with single VCR; stretch-and-soak
whirlpool spa in master bath with separate shower;
complete set of linens and towels; utility room with washer and dryer.
They will be lock-off units, enabling the creation of two separate units for added flexibility.
Additional amenities expected are: heated pool; whirlpool spa; exercise facility with steam room and sauna;
complete outdoor recreation area; convenience store; owner’s lounge; valet ski service; access to four local golf
courses and public tennis courts; and a choice of three ski areas - Park City Ski Area, Deer Valley and The Canyons.
Nearby cultural and seasonal recreational activities include: the Sundance Film Festival; restored Victorian homes;
museums; art galleries; theater productions; concerts; city calendar events; white water rafting; horseback riding;
hot air ballooning; shopping; dining; fishing; mountain biking.
The Legacy Lodge and Marriott projects, taken together, anchor the third year of a five-year, $35 million renovation
at the 36-year-old Park City Mountain Resort as it prepares for the Olympics.
The most notable other part of the expansion was the addition last year of 800 acres of terrain, giving Park City
Mountain Resort 3,330 skiable acres.
