Timeshare offerings in booming Las Vegas will get another boost when Pacific Monarch Resorts opens its 500+-unit
Cancun Caribe next year. An Interval International-affiliated resort located at the SW corner of Las Vegas Blvd.
and Shelbourne, it is scheduled to open by July 2000. To put its location in perspective for Las Vegas visitors,
it is not far down the street from the Factory Outlet stores on Las Vegas Blvd.
According to industry veteran Steven Rue Bromberg, this large resort will include a pool with waterfalls and slides, etc. "This will be an excellent addition to the II exchange system," said Mr. Bromberg, "and it's rated 5-Star. This resort and the Fairfield Las Vegas project, along with the new Hilton Grand Vacations at the Las Vegas Hilton (due to open in January for exchanges) will help put a dent in the highly-demanded and under-supplied Las Vegas timeshare market."
The Cancun Caribe is currently being marketed offsite in in Rancho Bernardo, CA., where photos of the completion of the project are available for viewing, according to Mr. Bromberg. The company sells a points-based club as opposed to traditional fixed-week ownership.
The project director for the offsite office is Tony Pereira, a long time industry veteran and master closer with experience at Shell's Orange Tree, Tahoe Seasons, Ridge Tahoe, Global Resorts and the Suites at Fisherman's Wharf.
Recently employed as the general sales manager at Fisherman's Wharf for Shell Vacations, where he successfully turned around a floundering marketing team, Pereira has returned to Pacific Monarch Resorts to lead a 50-man sales line. He is well-respected and well-liked within the vacation ownership industry.
In addition to the Las Vegas project, Pacific Monarch is opening an offsite sales office in Newport Beach and has moved its Redwood Shores offsite office to South San Francsico near the airport.
The company is also looking toward its international presence, and has already acquired the land and plans for around 500 units in San Jose del Cabo, at the tip of Baja California Sur in Mexico, according to sources there. Development of the Mexico project is expected to begin in the near future.
