If you're thinking about visiting Mazatlan, MX, but aren't sure where to stay or what there is to do when you get
there, a toll-free number, 888/643-6409, now gives travelers in the United States easy access to Mazatlan visitor
information. The latest information on accommodations, activities, attractions, golfing, fishing, air service,
local events and more is available by calling this toll-free hotline.
The Mazatlan Tourism Trust, a hotel and motel marketing organization,
is sponsoring the hotline as part of its efforts to aggressively promote Mazatlan to international visitors.
Located north of Puerto Vallarta and east of the southern tip of the
Baja Peninsula, this 500-year-old port city is often called Mexico's "best-kept secret". In contrast
to many other Mexican resort destinations, Mazatlan is known for being easy on the wallet and for retaining its
native charm, even as its offerings to visitors expand. Colonial villages nestled in the mountains nearby and a
historic downtown district which has recently been restored give Mazatlan cultural appeal. The beaches are wide
and stretch for miles, the people are friendly and relaxed. In addition, there is a large population of Americans
and Canadians who live there year-round, many of them people who have found that Mazatlan - with its laid-back
ambience and good prices and services - provides the perfect place to live out their retirement.
By calling the toll-free number, visitors can get information on several
new tourism developments in Mazatlan, including:
- The Estrella Del Mar Golf Club, the city's newest golf development,
sports an 18-hole, 7,004-yard course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course hugs the southern coastline
along Stone Island and challenges even the most experienced golfer.
- The Villas, a 28-room beachside luxury condominium complex, is adjacent
to the Estrella Del Mar Golf Club. Special golf packages also are available to guests.
- The El Cid Golf & Country Club, a well-known hotel and timeshare
resort, now features Latin America's only John Jacobs Golf School, offering two- to five-day programs with personalized
instruction for all skill levels. The El Cid also is expanding its golf course from 18 holes to 27, making it one
of Mexico's only golf courses to offer 27 holes and one of Mexico's only golf clubs to feature a Lee Trevino signature
course. The existing 18 holes are being renovated.
- For those looking for a little exercise and adventure, the El Cid has
launched a series of active learning programs from tennis and sailing to fitness programs and relaxing massages.
The resort's Spa and Fitness Center offers three-, five- and seven-day packages with personalized fitness training,
spa services and relaxation programs. The tennis program ranges from a four-day academy to half-day clinics and
workshops. Sailors of all skill levels will enjoy the resort's one- to four-day programs, including skills clinics
and racing workshops.
