The Mazatlan Tourism Trust, a hotel and motel marketing organization, is sponsoring the hotline as part of its efforts to aggressively promote Mazatlan to international visitors.

Located north of Puerto Vallarta and east of the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, this 500-year-old port city is often called Mexico's "best-kept secret". In contrast to many other Mexican resort destinations, Mazatlan is known for being easy on the wallet and for retaining its native charm, even as its offerings to visitors expand. Colonial villages nestled in the mountains nearby and a historic downtown district which has recently been restored give Mazatlan cultural appeal.
