Vistana, one of Orlando's most respected timeshare resort developers, is expanding its local operations by relocating
several of its customer-service operations.
Vistana will take over the soon-to-be-vacated SunTrust Bank credit-card center, at 6101 Chancellor Drive, and eventually
will move 350 employees to the building, the company announced Monday. About 50 new jobs are expected to be added
at the center during the next year.
SunTrust is moving its own operations to another location.
The new call center will house several of the company's divisions, including owner reservations, customer care,
telemarketing and telesales. By moving to the center Vistana will be able to consolidate several divisions that
deal with customers, Vistana spokesman David Matheson said. Those divisions currently are spread across different
floors of various buildings at Vistana's flagship resort, near Interstate 4 and State Road 535.
"As our sales grow, so does the company," Matheson said. "We are just looking for more space."
The company's telemarketing division will be the first to move into the new call center. That is expected to happen
in early May.
Vistana is in the midst of a local expansion that will give the company its second resort -- a successor to the
flagship resort, which is running out of room. The new resort, on the southeast side of International Drive just
below Westwood Boulevard, is in the development stages.
