BLUEGREEN ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENT
Press Release: Bluegreen Corporation
April 11, 1999
Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE:BXG) announces the appointment of Joseph G. Russoniello, RRP, to the position of senior
vice president of marketing for the company's resort division.
Bluegreen Resorts is ranked among the world's top-10 timeshare developers/operators, with approximately $75 million
in timeshare sales for the nine months ended December 27, 1998.
Russoniello, a 10-year timeshare-marketing veteran, joins Bluegreen following successful executive assignments
with Orlando-based Island One Resorts as senior vice president of marketing and strategic planning, and Marriott
Ownership Resorts Inc. (now Marriott Vacation Club International) as director of marketing for the Northeast off-site
operations. In addition to his timeshare expertise, Russoniello brings telecommunications (Bell South Corp.) and
entertainment marketing (Six Flags) experience to Bluegreen.
"We conducted a national search and were pleased to recruit our number one candidate," says Nick Gray,
Bluegreen Resorts president."Joe's range of marketing expertise is impressive and will be a key ingredient
as we prepare Bluegreen for the new millennium and unprecedented growth." Russoniello will be based at Bluegreen
headquarters in Boca Raton.
Bluegreen's impressive timeshare growth reinforced the need to build a more centralized, strategic marketing division,
according to Gray. "Our regional timeshare operations are accountable for their bottom lines, so they will
maintain an effective level of marketing autonomy. Joe and his headquarters-based marketing team will be responsible
for the many national initiatives that will serve to enhance existing programs, standardize our marketing approach
and reporting, and to develop new means of distribution for our vacation club product."
Russoniello says his decision to join Bluegreen was influenced by the
company's leadership and their vision to "continue to grow Bluegreen's brand in both private and public sectors."
In addition to building brand identity for the timeshare division, Russoniello will oversee the creation of national
database marketing, lead generation, telemarketing, trial ownership, merchandising and affinity marketing programs.
His group will be charged with rolling out value-added services and benefits for Bluegreen Resorts owners and Bluegreen
Vacation Club members. Additionally, Internet and multimedia marketing creative services, public relations, and
market research functions will report to Russoniello.
Bluegreen is one of the leading companies engaged in the acquisition, development, marketing and sale of timeshare
resorts and residential land. The Company's resorts are located in a variety of popular vacation destinations including
the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee; Myrtle Beach, SC; Branson, MO; Orlando, FL; Wisconsin Dells, WI; and Aruba.
