In about two weeks the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort and Casino is expected to unveil its plans for a $47 million remodel project.

"It will be a major facelift," said Greg Saunders, the Hyatt's general manager.

The Pritzker family, which owns the chain of Hyatt hotels, approved the project, he said, adding that the remodel will take 18 months to complete.

The project is a top-to-bottom renovation, which will change the look Hyatt's exterior as well as the interior.

Saunders said he's not ready to release any detailed plans yet, but he will be able to in 10 to 14 days. Then, he will show artist renderings of the new remodel.

"Every aspect (of the hotel) will be remodeled," Saunders added.

He also said that despite the loss of more than a hundred rooms during parts of the remodel, the hotel will remain open.

The design of the hotel will resemble Lake Tahoe's lodges of the 1920s and 1930s.

"It will be fabulous," Saunders said. "It will be one of the Hyatt's best resorts with nothing else like it at Lake Tahoe."
