Company Press Release
November 17, 1999
WICHITA, Kan. -- Candlewood Suites has received a five-star rating from Hotels magazine -- for the company's web
site at www.candlewoodsuites.com.
The magazine saluted the Candlewood site's overall look, feel, and functionality, but of particular interest was
the section devoted to business travel tips. Those tips are provided by Chris McGinnis, an internationally known
author and expert on business travel.
McGinnis provides a new travel advice column every month, and previous tips are archived for easy reference. ``It's
a great way to keep customers coming back for more,'' says Hotels magazine.
Along with travel information, visitors to www.candlewoodsuites.com can book a room at any of 76 Candlewood Suites
nationwide, print a map with driving directions, look for a career opportunity, get franchise information and more.
Candlewood Hotel Co. owns, operates and franchises Candlewood Suites, which targets mid-market business travelers
and others on short or long-term travel. Chairman and CEO Jack DeBoer, who also founded Residence Inn and co-founded
Summerfield Suites in the 1970s and 1980s, founded Candlewood in 1995. He is recognized in the hotel industry as
the creator of the extended-stay concept. Jim Roos is Candlewood President and COO.
Chris McGinnis' comments on trends and issues affecting business travel are broadcast on CNN and other television
and radio networks. Since 1988, McGinnis has written popular columns for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Fortune,
Your Company, Conde Nast Traveler and Entrepreneur magazines. His latest book, ``The Unofficial Business Traveler's
Pocket Guide,'' was released in August 1998. His first book, ``202 Tips Even the Best Business Travelers May Not
Know,'' has sold more than 35,000 copies since its publication in 1994.
