For the seventh year in a row, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts has been named "Best Hotel Chain Worldwide"
by Business Traveller magazine. In its annual reader poll, the U.K. based magazine ranked Sheraton among the best
in nearly a dozen categories.
"With Sheraton's extensive worldwide coverage, it's not surprising that no one can knock it off the top spot,"
according to Business Traveller in its November issue.
Sheraton beat Hyatt, Four Seasons Regent, Ritz Carlton, Marriott, Hilton, Mandarin Oriental, Inter-Continental
and Holiday Inn for the worldwide award. In the competitive North American market, Sheraton beat Marriott, Hilton
and Four Seasons to win second place as "Best Business Hotel Chain in North America."
Only Hyatt outranked Sheraton in the category. Sheraton also ranked second in the same category for the Middle
East and Western Europe.
Sheraton's airport hotels continued their high marks.
The Sheraton Schipol Airport in Amsterdam was ranked among the "Best New Business Hotels in the World"
and three other European airport hotels made the list of "Best Airport Hotels."
They were the Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel at Charles de Gaulle, which jumped from fifth place last year to second
place this year, and the Sheraton Skyline Hotel and Conference Center at London's Heathrow Airport and Sheraton
Frankfurt Hotel and Conference Center, which ranked third and fourth, respectively. All three hotels offer Sheraton's
highly rated Airport Hotel Services, which includes express laundry and pressing, 24-hour access to the business
center, a transit survival kit, Body Clock Cuisine (designed to fight jet lag) and "Daybreak Rates" for
discounted guest rooms and meeting rooms,
In the category of "Best Business Hotel in the World," the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers in
Bangkok was among the winners, ranking seventh in the world. The hotel chain was also cited in the "Best Business
Hotel Chain in Asia Pacific" category, winning third place. In Eastern Europe and the United Kingdom, Sheraton
also made the top list, ranking fourth.
