MARRIOTT OFFERS SUMMERTIME SPECIALS
Press Release: Marriott International, Inc.
May 15, 1999
With more than 250 million vacationers expected to hit the road this summer,* Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites
is helping to make the most of the year's busiest travel period by offering a great getaway value with its "Can't
Beat Friday'' rate, available May 20 through Aug. 29, 1999. "Can't Beat Friday'' offers summer travelers up
to 20 percent savings on regularly priced weekend rates when a Friday night is included, and is available at more
than 130 participating Marriott properties throughout the United States and Canada.
Marriott has found that summer travelers are particularly interested in getaways that allow them to rediscover,
learn, enjoy, or just "get away from it all.'' "Can't Beat Friday'' offers a terrific value for pursuing
unique experiences that create lasting memories.
Special "Can't Beat Friday'' summer getaways include beach escapes to the Newport Beach Marriott, Calif.,
for $99 per night, sightseeing in the nation's capitol while staying at the Key Bridge Marriott, Va., for just
$89 nightly or enjoying the "windy city'' at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg for $69 a night. The "Can't
Beat Friday'' rate reinvents weekend pricing, giving guests added incentive and a greater value for weekend escapes
at a Marriott hotel, resort or suite. Breakfast options are also available at an additional charge.
As an added benefit, guests -- who are members of Marriott's frequent guest program, Marriott Rewards -- can "keep
in touch'' while also earning 5,000 Marriott Rewards points for switching to AT&T from another residential
long distance carrier. Additionally, Marriott Rewards members will earn five points per dollar spent on qualifying
residential long distance, personal
calling cards and local toll calls when utilizing AT&T.
When making reservations this summer, guests can ask for the "Can't Beat Friday'' rate when calling (800)
USA-WKND (872-9563), or contacting a participating hotel or travel agent. To begin earning Marriott Rewards points
with AT&T services, simply call (800) 288-2662, ext. 61868.
The "Can't Beat Friday'' rate is available Thursday through Sunday
with a Friday night stay, and rates are subject to change without prior notice. Day of week availability varies
by hotel. A limited number of rooms are available and some blackout dates and length-of-stay restrictions may apply.
This discount is not applicable to groups of five or more rooms or with other promotional offers.
