Park City Mountain Rentals Opens at Legacy Lodge

Press Release

December 29, 1999
Park City, Utah - Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) opens the mountain's most convenient and advanced ski and snowboard rental facility on Monday, Dec. 20, 1999. Park City Mountain Rentals, located in the basement level of the Legacy Lodge, is the first retail operation of its kind to be owned and operated by the resort.

"The same friendly service our guests are accustomed to experiencing on the mountain will be in effect at Park City Mountain Rentals," said Vern Greco, PCMR president and general manager. "That, combined with the highest quality equipment I've ever seen at a rental shop, will make this shop stand out from the rest."

Park City Mountain Rentals features Tecnica ski boots, Marker bindings, snowboard equipment by Burton and skis made exclusively for the resort by Volkl. The shop also houses "The Shuttle" -- the latest in ski tuning technology by Winterstieger.

"'The Shuttle" is so technically precise that skis run through it are returned to virtually factory-new condition," Greco said. "In fact, the best ski manufacturers in the world use 'The Shuttle' to finish new skis. Regardless of a skier's ability, well-tuned skis make the experience of skiing better and with this machine, Park City Mountain Rentals will have a significant advantage in this area."

In addition to Park City Mountain Rentals, restrooms, the seasonal locker room and day storage lockers will also be available for use in the Legacy Lodge basement level starting Dec. 20.

The opening of the food court on the second level of the Legacy Lodge has been postponed until mid-January due to construction delays. To serve base area food and beverage needs in the meantime, the resort has erected a temporary building in the Resort Center Plaza just in front of the Legacy Lodge dubbed the "Base Camp."

Inside the "Base Camp," guests will find many of the same menu items to be featured at the Legacy Lodge food court, including homemade soup and chili; deli sandwiches and wraps; a carvery; fresh baked goods; and a salad bar. Guests can also stop in the "Base Camp" for a Coca-Cola or hot chocolate, or simply to warm themselves. The Base Camp is scheduled to open sometime this week.

Park City Mountain Resort, consistently rated among one of the top ski and snowboard resorts in North America, is the official venue of the men's and women's alpine giant slalom and all snowboarding events of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
