Trans World Airlines Inc. on Wednesday reported a $6.21 million loss for the second quarter, saying the threat
of a strike caused high-fare business travelers to divert to other carriers. The loss, which compared with a $19.5
million profit a year ago, exceeded the estimates of Wall Street analysts. TWA's operating earnings tumbled almost
60 percent, to $18.4 million.
