NEW YORK, NY -- Paris Couturiaux, senior vice president of human resources for Cendant Mortgage, was honored recently
with the 1999 Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Award for Professional Excellence, one of the most prestigious
awards in the field of human resources. SHRM is the preeminent human resource professional organization with over
120,000 members worldwide.
"Since joining Cendant Mortgage in 1996, Paris has proven himself as a team player who believes that every
member of the team deserves to be treated as a family member. He recognized that a leadership team was needed to
prepare the Company for the remarkable growth that would soon follow," said Terry Edwards, president and CEO
of Cendant Mortgage. "He recruited more than a quarter of the present Senior Leadership Team, which has helped
the Company grow," continued Edwards, "and Paris has guided Cendant Mortgage through a three-year period
of tremendous development."
Paris steered the Company's human resource team through remarkable expansion, helping Cendant Mortgage to become
an employer of choice and the largest employer in South Jersey. In just over three years, the employee base has
tripled.
"Without Paris's dynamic and innovative leadership, we would not have been able to accomplish all that we
have as a business and an employer," said Edwards.
A testament to his ability and creativity, Paris' team received third place in the international PricewaterhouseCoopers'
1999 Most Innovative HR Department search. In addition, Paris was recognized by the Employment Management Association
with its 1999 Pericles Award for outstanding contributions in the field of human resources.
Paris has spent 28 years in human resource management. In 1988, he was selected the Executive of the Year by the
Human Resources Management Association of Kansas City. His previous employer, American Century Mutual Funds, where
he served as the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, was named the Employer of the Year in 1988 and 1995.
Also, in 1995, American Century's Training Department was named the Training Department of the Year by the American
Society for Training and Development of Kansas City.
Paris' commitment to excellence extends beyond the workplace. He currently serves on the Executive Advisory Committee
of the Rutgers University School of Business in Camden, NJ. He has served as the Director of the Ozanam Home for
Boys in Kansas City and is a member of the Fund Raising Committee of Coopers Poynt School in Camden. Paris has
