The Timeshare Beat
September 12, 2001
With Hyatt's new Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Hotel near Naples, FL scheduled to open later this month, the company
has wasted no time announcing the addition to the property of a new timeshare resort.
It will be the first new timeshare development in the area in about 20 years.
Details are still sketchy, but it will be old Florida-style in its architecture, heavily landscaped and completely surrounded by the new Raptor Bay Golf Course. Amenities will include a swimming pool with waterfalls and a flowing river pool where guests can go rafting.
Sales will begin in 2002 and the expected opening will be in 2003.
The new Hyatt Regency Coconut Point is owned by Hyatt Equities, LLC and will be managed by Hyatt Corporation. The 450-room resort will be part of Pelican Landing, a master-planned community in Bonita Springs being developed by WCI Communities, one of Florida’s largest community developers and homebuilders. Pelican Landing is approximately 15 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport and 20 minutes from downtown Naples.
Guests will enjoy a private beach island, eco-tours on pristine Estero Bay, a Hyatt-signature landscaped swimming pool area resplendent with native flora, outdoor whirlpool spas, a 10,200 sq. ft. spa, a Regency Club VIP concierge floor and a full array of Camp Hyatt activities for children.
The initial 18 holes of Raptor Bay Golf Club, the newest golf course for WCI Communities Inc., is scheduled to open this month. An additional nine holes are planned for completion in October 2003. The course, which will surround the new timeshare resort, will be operated on a semi-private basis, offering accessibility to resort patrons and on a space available basis to the public. WCI will manage all club facilities.
The course was designed by Raymond Floyd, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame whose winnings exceed $17
million. Floyd has 64 career victories including four major championships and four Senior major championships.
In addition to the five timeshare properties Hyatt already has open, the company has an additional four resorts
underway. There will be a third resort in Key West, FL; a new one in Breckenridge, CO; the renovated Highlands
Inn in Carmel, CA; and a new resort in Sedona, AZ.
