Live Music, Spring Conditions and Special Deals Abound During Copper's Closing Weekend Celebration

Press Release
April 11, 2001
Copper Mountain, CO -- A free live concert, special deals throughout the resort and prime spring skiing and riding conditions will set the stage for Sunsation 2001 - Copper Mountain's end of the season extravaganza. Scheduled for April 21-22, 2001, guests are invited to enjoy two full days of activities while celebrating the end of the 2000-2001 winter season. Festivities will culminate Sunday afternoon with the ever-popular Eenie Weenie Bikini contest.

A free live concert is set for Saturday, April 21st in The New Village at Copper, on the deck of the Indian Motorcycle Cafe. Scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., popular music acts including Rainville (Best Guitar Tone - Westword Best of Denver 2000), All Mighty Senators (Best Live Act 1999, Reader's Poll - Music Monthly) and Yo Flaco! (Jim Beam National Band Search Winner - June 2000) will keep the crowd rocking well into the evening. Immediately following the concert from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m., a village party will feature a beer garden, food vendors, an invite-only climbing wall competition, and a variety of additional activities.

On Sunday, April 22 the party continues with the Copper vs. Breckenridge Team Challenge. Top professional athletes from Summit County's two largest teams will compete for the ultimate in bragging rights during a big air competition, halfpipe event, and taco eating challenge. Then, beginning at 4:00 p.m., the Eenie Weenie Bikini contest returns for its 17th consecutive year. Participants will ski or snowboard while performing "routines" to their own music in creative costumes, ending their runs in front of the Jack's Slopeside Grill deck.

Urged on by the cheers and jeers of the crowd, judges will determine the best un-dressed man and woman and award them both a Copper Mountain season pass for the 2001/2002 ski season.

A variety of lodging packages have been specially created for the Sunsation 2001 weekend, allowing guests of the resort to enjoy activities on both Saturday and Sunday. Lodging located just steps away from the slopes is available starting at just $89 per night in a hotel room or deluxe studio. These rates are valid Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 only, and are based on availability/inventory. Restrictions apply. For more information, call (888) 212-9433.
