Mixed-use resort easier to market, gives buyers options

DAYTONA BEACH - The L-shape of the Ocean Walk tower in the core area of the beachside is evidence of its unique configuration.

The mixed-use resort has condo units across the back that investors can buy and enter them in a hotel program while the bottom of the L are time-share units that Fairfield Communities is marketing.

Mixed-use resorts aren't new, but Ocean Walk is the first in the Volusia/Flagler market. Now it is being joined by Coconut Palms Resort in New Smyrna Beach as developers look for ways to spend up the cash flow and make resorts more palatable to the financial industry.
