JOHN PALMER became Britain’s wealthiest prisoner last night as the self-made businesman, said to be worth as much
as the Queen, was jailed for the world’s largest timeshare fraud.
Palmer, 51, whose personal fortune is estimated at more than £300 million, looked stunned as the jury delivered
its guilty verdict after nearly six weeks of deliberation. He had regarded himself as untouchable.
He looked as though he were going to faint in the dock as he slowly took off his expensive wristwatch and handed
it to his solicitor before being led to the cells. He glanced across at Christina Ketley, his business partner
and mother of their ten-year-old son, who was also convicted of being involved in the fraud.
