The 37-year-old Welk Resort is undergoing a $33 million expansion.
Construction, expected to take four years, will add a 3,500-square-foot recreation center and a complex of more
than 200 timeshare villas called Villas On The Greens.
Four 16-unit buildings are finished and work on two 24-unit buildings is under way. Plans call for 12 more buildings
and the recreation center, which will have play areas for children, a library, a big-screen television, an indoor
sauna, an outdoor jacuzzi and three pools.
Before the expansion, the 600-acre resort had 286 timeshare units, a 137-room hotel, two golf courses and a theater.
