Press Release
May 7, 2001
The Board of the Organisation for Timeshare in Europe, OTE, appointed on Friday 30 March 2001 Ron Haylock as Chairman-elect
to take over from OTE's current Chairman Francisco Oliveira at the OTE Lisbon Convention in September 2001. The
Board hereby confirmed its determination to continue to serve the timeshare industry with strong leadership through
OTE.
"Mr Haylock's vast experience in the timeshare industry, as well as in the tourism and travel industry will
in no doubt contribute tremendously to further consolidating OTE", commented outgoing Chairman Francisco Oliveira.
Mr Haylock was managing director for RCI Europe, and currently is non-executive director of a number of commercial
companies in the leisure field including - Holiday Autos, Rockingham Motor Speedway, Hoseasons Holidays and Residence
International, an international operating timeshare company. He is also Chairman of the governing council of the
University of Nottingham, and Vice President of Christel House Europe, a charity.
Having served as OTE's chairman since OTE's inception, Francisco Oliveira has successfully overseen the establishment
of a truly pan-European trade association for the timeshare industry. "Francisco's efforts in bringing together
the European timeshare industry are clearly paying off today with OTE being a known European trade association,
not only within the timeshare industry, but also with governments, politicians and consumer associations".
"I am looking forward to working with the OTE Board, Executive Committee, National Chapters and Councils for
the benefit of all OTE member companies", commented Mr Haylock.
Mr Haylock will take on responsibilities as Chairman-elect immediately, whilst Dr Oliveira will continue to work
with OTE's Legislative Council in its government relations function in Brussels.
