California Hotel and Motel Association Announces Name Change

Press Release: California Hotel and Lodging Association
May 4, 2001
SACRAMENTO, CA -- The California Hotel and Motel Association has announced that it was renamed the California Hotel and Lodging Association, effective April 12, 2001. The California Hotel and Lodging Association (CH&LA) is an affiliate of the American Hotel and Motel Association, which has changed its name to American Hotel and Lodging Association effective April 4, 2001.

The proliferation of limited-service establishments extended stay properties, bed and breakfast inns, timeshares, vacation rentals, condominiums and guest ranches makes it clear that ``hotel and lodging'' more adequately conveys the breadth and the scope of business types that now exist within the lodging industry.

The CH&LA will also have a new logo that reflects its connection with the AH&LA. The organization will keep the existing Web site address chma.com and e-mail address service@chma.com short term until a new address can be established.

The CH&LA's mission remains the same being the indispensable resource for communicating and protecting the rights and interests of the California lodging industry, for providing educational training and cost-savings programs for all segments of the industry, and for supporting strategic alliances to promote the value of California tourism and travel.
