Hapimag apartment hotel in Interlaken starts to take shape

Press Release: Hapimag
March 12, 2001
The raw frame of the Hapimag apartment hotel on the Belvédère site in Interlaken has been completed. Following a construction phase that lasted a mere 12 months, festivities celebrating completion of the external structure were officially held March 1 in the presence of all craftsmen involved in the construction.

The CHF 35 million project undertaken by Hapimag, an internationally active provider of holiday rights of residence with headquarters in Baar, Switzerland, has begun to take shape. The end of February witnessed the completion of the external structure of both buildings, one six-floor and one seven-floor, that will ultimately contain a total of 105 apartments, generous common areas and a subterranean garage with 110 parking places. "Thanks to the tremendous effort of all craftsmen involved, we are right on plan with our time-table," remarked Hapimag project head, Peter Beer. Hapimag retained primarily local businesses for work on the building project in Interlaken.

Interior work - among other things, construction of the attractive wellness centre with special showers, a steam bath and sauna - will be tackled during the coming months. Approximately by year's end, furnishing of the apartments can take place.

Public restaurant
Although the apartment hotel complex will be for the exclusive use of Hapimag's partners, who in the meantime now number 131,000, outside guests will be welcome in the eating facilities. Restaurant operations, with indoor seating for 100 and outdoor seating for roughly 70 guests, will be managed by Hapimag, itself.

The grand opening of Hapimag's 55th holiday residence is scheduled for the summer of 2002. Hapimag estimates that its apartment hotel will bring Interlaken an additional 85,000 overnight stays per year. At the same time, the broad mix of Hapimag guests will generate roughly CHF 10 million in annual revenues for regional commercial and service companies, as well as create around 17 new jobs in Interlaken.

Hapimag is an internationally leading provider of high-quality holiday opportunities, and employs 1,300 individuals around the world.
