Press Release
July 13, 2001
ORANJESTAD, ARUBA -- La Cabana All Suite Beach Resort in Aruba has named veteran hotelier Lou Roelofsen as the
new general manager of the deluxe property. He will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of
the hotel.
Prior to joining La Cabana, Roelofsen spent eight years as the general manager of the Princess Beach Resort &
Casino, a Crowne Plaza Resort, in Curacao.
Roelofsen, a Curacao native, is no stranger to Aruba. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, he spent time with
the Holiday Inn Aruba Beach Resort holding food and beverage manager and duty manager titles.
After leaving Aruba, Roelofsen stayed with the Holiday Inn brand and went to work as an innkeeper at the Holiday
Inn Paradise Island in The Bahamas in 1982. Five years later, he was named the general manager of the Holiday
Inn Lucaya Beach Resort, Grand Bahamas Island, The Bahamas.
Following a two-year stint at this property, Roelofsen went on to hold general manager positions at the Nassau
Beach Resort Club (a luxury property owned and operated by Trusthouse Forte International Hotels), the Ramada South
Ocean Golf & Beach Club (where he was responsible for the change from Divi to Ramada) and the Radisson Lucaya
Beach Resort – all in The Bahamas.
Then, in 1993, he had the occasion to return to Curacao as general manager of the Princess Beach Resort & Casino.
His move to La Cabana in Aruba in 2001 keeps him working within the Dutch Caribbean while offering new challenges
and opportunities.
“Lou Roelofsen’s 25 years of hotel industry experience in the Caribbean and the Bahamas, plus his energy, enthusiasm
and excellent managerial skills, make him a superb addition to the La Cabana team,” said Hans Vink, director of
OHEM, N.V., the management company.
Situated along Eagle Beach, La Cabana is a complete vacation, recreation and entertainment complex in a relaxed
atmosphere reflecting the ease and spirit of the Caribbean. The resort encompasses spacious suite accommodations;
a deluxe Health & Fitness Center; three swimming pools; five tennis courts; casual theme nights; diverse dining;
world-class entertainment in the Tropicana Showroom; and thrilling action in the Royal Cabana Casino, Aruba’s largest
gaming house.
