Developer Bill Levy's latest and perhaps final plan for reshaping three blocks of lower State Street is up for
approval on Wednesday, when the city Planning Commission will hold a special hearing on the Entrada de Santa Barbara
project -- a proposal at the forefront of civic debate.
Mr. Levy and his architects say they significantly scaled back Entrada in recent weeks, with a reduction of time-share
condos to 56 units from 81 units. The cut in the number of units is one of several changes aimed at winning approval
and making the project more marketable to prospective tenants.
"This has been a long road," said Bill Medel, projects manager for William Levy Investments, LLC. "We
would hope that those opposing the project will be able to stand up and say, 'Hey, these guys have answered our
concerns.'"
Technically, endorsement from the seven-member Planning Commission could be the last major bureaucratic hurdle
Mr. Levy and his team must clear before construction of the $75 million project can begin.
