TBS signs deal for internship programme

Press Release
July 9, 2001
THE ideal tertiary education should be one that prepares one for employment.

It should equip the graduate with the ability and skills to apply the knowledge gained to build a successful career and contribute to his organisation.

At Taylor's College, this preparation is done through various means, one of which is through the TBS Internship Exchange.

The exchange is a pre and post graduation service for students.

It serves as a stepping stone for aspiring business students to prepare themselves before venturing into the industry of their choice.

The exchange primarily conducts research and carries out training and consultancy programmes to prepare students before they venture into their internship programmes.

Its services are completed by the advisers and counsellors in the Career Bridge team.

The team provides assistance on any matter, from writing CVs to counselling.

Last month, TBS launched its internship programme with Tanco Resorts Berhad," at a ceremony attended by the TRB's managing director Franco Yong, and TBS' chief operating officer Dr Frankie Ow.

The programme involves eight students who will undergo a two-week internship programme this month and another eight weeks in December/January.

The internship programme is aimed at giving students the conceptual and behavioural skills that will give students relevant industrial experience by the time they graduate.

'During the ceremony, the eight students also listened to a briefing on the programme from a TRB representative Jeremy Lee.

During, the session, Lee spoke about TRB, which is TBS' knowledge partner.

He also briefed the students on 'the role they had to play to ensure that they achieved their targets of personal development and gained industry experience.

Taylor's Business School is the first local college to focus on creative knowledge management in its courses.

This is done from the beginning of the students' tertiary education - when they take up the Taylor's University Business Foundation course.

The difference between the TUBF programme and other Foundation pro-programmes is that it is will focus on the subjects the student needs to study in order to proceed into the degree course chosen.
