Press Release
January 19, 2001
ORLANDO, FL -- Hilton Grand Vacations Co., LLC (HGVC) yesterday announced the official grand opening of the 264-unit
Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii.
A spectacular grand opening celebration marked the debut of the 21st vacation ownership property in the HGVC resort
portfolio.
``Today, the HGVC collection of resorts has been enhanced with a prominent new presence in Hawaii,'' said Antoine
Dagot, president and chief executive officer of Hilton Grand Vacations Co. ``The unsurpassed Waikiki beachfront
and the spectacular setting of the 22-acre Hilton Hawaiian Village provide an ideal location for the newest Hilton
Grand Vacations Club (HGVClub) resort.
``We are pleased that Hilton is at the leading edge of a new burst of luxury vacation ownership development on
Oahu. Our pre-opening membership sales, which began one year ago, have continuously exceeded our budgeted projections,
and we look forward to welcoming a growing family of HGVClub Members to Honolulu.''
The grand opening ceremony was attended by more than 700 invited guests and local dignitaries, and featured guest
speakers including Antoine Dagot; Honolulu Mayor, Jeremy Harris; Peter Schall, vice president and managing director
of Hilton Hawaiian Village; and Mark Wang, vice president of Hilton Grand Vacations Co. The Reverend William Kaina
offered a traditional Hawaiian blessing, and led the untying of a ceremonial maile lei.
An extensive one-year, $36 million renovation of the Lagoon Tower resulted in a grand lobby and luxurious one-,
two-, and three-bedroom condominium-style accommodations, as well as two-story penthouse units. The accommodations
feature a bright and contemporary decor, with exotic hardwood furniture and plantation shutters, while tropical
accents provide a soft island touch.
Kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, microwave, range/oven, blender, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker, dishwasher,
and a selection of cookware, glassware, and dinnerware.
Color televisions with cable and VCR are located in both the bedroom and living room; additional amenities include
a CD/cassette player, AM/FM clock radio, iron and ironing board. Each suite also features panoramic views of the
beachfront, yacht harbor or Diamond Head.
For added convenience, laundry facilities are located on each floor, and a sundry store and business center will
also be available. Resort guests are provided immediate access to Waikiki's best white-sand beach, and the extensive
variety of restaurants, entertainment venues, world-class shopping and recreational amenities of the Hilton Hawaiian
Village.
