Council wants tax clarification

Hilton Head Island Town Council will ask the South Carolina Municipal Association to clarify whether state law should be changed to allow time shares to be taxed differently than they are now.

Council voted 6-0 on Tuesday, authorizing Mayor Tom Peeples to take their recommendation to the municipal association.

Steve DeSimone was absent.

State law currently requires time shares to be assessed property taxes based on their residential property value.
