The Bay Club Announces Expansion Plans

Press Release: Waikoloa Beach Resort
January 2, 2001
BIG ISLAND, HI -- Nikken Corporation and The Bay Club Ownership Resort are pleased to announce that the long awaited construction of Phase Two would begin in Spring 2001.

"The development of Phase Two has been a long awaited dream for the entire family at The Bay Club," said project director Koichi Tadokoro.

Phase Two will consist of 114 units, a Clubhouse and Service building. Other amenities will include a swimming pool and spa. The Front Desk, Owner Services, and the General Manager will operate out of the new Clubhouse. That will also become the central check in/out area for guests of both Phase One and Two. Guests of Phase One and Two may visit and use any of the leisure facilities on the grounds.

Along with Phase Two, it was announced that plans were moving forward for construction of a new development on ten acres of oceanfront land that parent company Nikken Corporation purchased in February of 2000. Construction on this is expected to begin in Spring 2001 also, now that the necessary SMA permits have been obtained. The Beach Club will be the first of its kind on The Big Island. The facility will offer a full service spa. Outdoor amenities will include a swimming pool, keiki pool and spa.

Plans are also underway for a restaurant to be built by the spa, and the search is on for a well known restauranteur from the mainland or here in the islands with an individualized style of cooking. The plans that are being drafted for this unique property will preserve the natural and historic beauty of that area. Formerly owned by Parker Ranch and used for Parker Ranch employee picnics and parties, the property contains a brackish water pond that holds mullet and crayfish that are clearly visible at low tide, and has easy access to one of the best beaches on the island, Anaeho'omalu Bay.

"We are very excited with the announced plans for Phase Two and The Beach Club," said Shari West, Director of Marketing. "The Bay Club has a reputation for excellence, and both of these projects will not only enhance Phase One, but extend that reputation to an even higher level. These projects will be good for the local economy, providing jobs during and after construction, and will increase the number of vacation ownership villas available for exchange in Hawaii, the most highly demanded location in the world."
