KUALA LUMPUR -- One of the most common grouses when a family goes on holidays is that not everyone in the group
enjoy the same thing. While father finds joy in golfing, mother may just like to have a dip in the outdoor jacuzzi.
The little ones love splashing in the swimming pool while teenage children may just like to laze around or play
some games.
How wonderful to have all these facilities in just one conditioned location, all within easy reach. One such place
dedicated for fun and adventure for the whole family is the Palm Springs Resort in Port Dickson.
Sprawling over 500 acres, the resort has three different types of development - leisure and recreation, commercial
and residential.
For leisure and recreation, the well sculptured terrain of a private 18-hole golf course amidst lush greenery and
undulating hills is a challenge for avid golfers.
A relaxing spot is the club house with the Fairway Cafe offering a large menu while the nearby driving range is
where beginners or those practising their game normally spend their time.
With the sea not too far away from the course, the occasional breeze is a welcome respite on sunny days. A surprise
is in store in the form of a small fruit orchard at the fringes of the golf course where many kinds of fruit trees
and vegetables are grown by the resort management.
"This orchard is open to all guests," says resort manager Yum Siew Wah. "By next year, we'll introduce
a programme to enhance appreciation of nature especially among children. We'll let them plant their own trees here
and each tree will be tagged with the name of the child who plants it."
For children, there are ample facilities at the resort's Club Village. A fun pool with slides, sand pool, playground,
kid's room and facilities for summer camp.
The resort also has a special club for children between the ages of three and 12. The Kids SuperClub or KSC is
a centre where children can learn and have fun at the same time. Art and craft, storytelling, music session, excursions
and camping trips are some of the many activities organised for the KSC members.
The entire family, meanwhile, can look forward to spending time at the lovely outdoor jacuzzis, reflexology pool,
fish pool, floral garden with pavillions, beach court, jogging track and the karaoke lounge.
Super treat for children
"This is really an integrated resort for the entire family," Yum says, adding that another added attraction
at the resort is Malaysia's first ever Caravan Park. There are altogether 27 caravans with every cluster of three
caravans facing a common barbecue pit for great night picnics under the stars.
Yum says booking priority is given to the resort's Vacation Super Club (VSC) members while walk-in guests can always
check the caravan units availability.
The commercial project of the resort comprises shops, shopping village, convention centre and hotel block while
for residential development, the resort boasts 660 units of Duta Villas service apartments and the soon to be comleted
Hacienda Condotel.
The resort owned by Tanco Resorts Bhd has also manifested itself in the environment-friendly riverside apartments
with a design that enhances the scenic Menyala River.
Spacious and opulent Riverine Villa Townhouses available in three Mediterranean designs - Greenwich, Valencia and
Malibu - with enchanting vistas of the river make wise investment in the prime freehold land for those opting to
adopt a lifestyle of luxury.
An upcoming facilities, says Yum, is the Marina and Yacht Club to cater to the growing popularity of seafaring
activities. Soon guests and the riverside townhouse owners will be able to moor their yachts at their own berth
in the marina by the river that leads to the sea.
Talking about living away from the ordinary, the Palm Springs Resort is it - indeed an exclusive yet affordable
place with a difference.
