Press Release
December 20, 2001
PARSIPPANY, NJ -- With fractional interests among the fastest growing segments of the resort real estate industry,
Ragatz Associates, the leading provider of market research to the resort development industry, recently announced
details of its second annual Fractional Interest Symposium.
This new emerging industry event will take place March 6 and 7, 2002 at The Phoenician, 6000 East Camelback Road,
Scottsdale, Arizona. Registration for the Second Annual Fractional Interest Symposium is $100. For information
or registration materials, please contact Ragatz Associates at 541-686-9335 or sarah.rezak@ragatzassociates.com
<mailto:sarah.rezak@ragatzassociates.com>.
The agenda for the Symposium will take on a global focus, as international regions have begun to show greater interest
in the fractional marketplace. Sessions will consist of panel discussions on issues of concern to the industry,
including financing, product design, rentals, exchange, marketing and sales. The event will feature 15-20 industry
leaders who will address attendees, providing opportunities to share successes, challenges, and new ideas relating
to the complex and ever-changing concept of fractional interests and private residence clubs. Ragatz Associates
will also present the most up-to-date industry research, including both the supply and demand sides of the industry.
The inaugural Symposium in June 2001 brought together nearly 150 existing and potential industry participants including
financiers, developers, marketers, and managers of fractional interest properties and private residence clubs throughout
North America. The event was so well received that Ragatz Associates has decided to produce the event annually.
"Even for veterans in the industry, it was a surprise to learn that sales volume among fractional interest
resorts increased by 150 percent between 1999 and 2000," said Richard Ragatz, president, Ragatz Associates
about the June event. "With less than 10,000 households in the United States owning fractional interests,
more than 95 percent of the potential market remains untapped. Both developers who are already in this industry
segment, as well as new entrants, are seeking answers on how they can capitalize on new opportunities in the fractional
marketplace, and so we expect this event to be tremendously popular again."
