BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Saturday, Dec. 1, marked the debut of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Argentina and Uruguay with the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires and Four Seasons Resort Carmelo, Uruguay. Within 25 minutes of each other by plane or helicopter, these two properties make an ideal trip for guests looking to mix business and pleasure in style.

``We're delighted to be able to bring Four Seasons to two new markets in South America simultaneously,'' said Isadore Sharp, chairman and CEO, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. ``The properties complement one another and will offer international travelers the best of both business and leisure.''

The 165-room Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires, formerly a Park Hyatt hotel, was built on the site of a well-known ``Mansion,'' which was retained and restored; a new structure was also added to the site, which contains the majority of the Hotel's guest rooms and public areas. An extensive refurbishment of the guest rooms and corridors, as well as selected public and back-of-house areas, will be undertaken at the Hotel. New facilities, including updated fitness, spa and dining options, will place the Hotel beyond comparison in the local market and will help attract international leisure and conference visitors as well.

Four Seasons Resort Carmelo, Uruguay, is a 44-villa luxury Resort located on the Rio de la Plata, near the town of Carmelo, some 40 km north east of Buenos Aires. Formerly Madison Resort, Golf and Spa, the Resort encompasses a full-service spa, meeting facilities and an 18-hole championship, par 72-golf course and clubhouse.

Recreational activities include horeseback riding, tennis, hiking and fishing. Future plans include the construction of a professional polo field. In addition to the Resort, the property will also be home to future luxury, single-family vacation homes situated around the golf course, and may include a world-class luxury fractional ownership product consisting of approximately 40 two-, three- and four-bedroom units and related facilities.

Four Seasons made its first foray into South America in January 2001 with the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Caracas, in Venezuela. Together, these three new properties introduce South America to new levels of luxury and elegance and to the ``read-my-mind'' service that is distinctly Four Seasons.
