OCEANSIDE ---- About 850 comments ---- including 600 form letters opposing the project -- have been received on
an environmental impact report for a 400-room hotel and 159-unit time-share complex on three blocks by the Oceanside
Pier.
Copies of the comments were released by the city's Planning Department Monday. The comments had been received through
the end of the day Thursday, 45 days after the 267-page document was made available for public review.
Aside from the form letters, about 75 other writers expressed opposition to the project as now proposed, often
in lengthy, detailed letters. More than 100 people wrote in support, and several of them also used similar wording
in letters.
