Northbrook, IL -- Shell Vacations LLC announced today that July 2001 was a record month for vacation ownership
sales and that it would be continuing its strategy of aggressive distribution of the Shell Vacations Club with
the opening of its ninth Off-Site Preview Center to be located in Torrance, CA. The Center will be operated under
a broker agreement with Power Global Marketing, Inc.
"July was the best sales month we have experienced in several years with actual net vacation ownership sales
for the month totaling in excess of $11.2 million compared to a budget for the month of $9.3 million," said
Simon Crawford-Welch, Executive VP, Sales & Marketing for Shell Vacations LLC.
"As a result of our sales turnaround in 2001 and the tremendous success we are experiencing year-to-date,
we will continue to aggressively expand our off-site distribution system for the Shell Vacations Club. We began
the year with three Off-Site Preview Centers and with the recent addition of Torrance, CA, we now have nine such
Centers located in New Mexico, California, Washington State, and Canada, with plans for the addition of at least
two more by year's end," added Crawford-Welch.
The points-based nature of the Shell Vacations Club program lends itself more favorably to an off-site sales environment
than traditional interval ownership, according to Crawford-Welch. Shell has experienced great success in converting
many of its existing interval owners to the new more flexible, innovative and convenient points-based Club product.
"The expansion of our off-site distribution system, coupled with the expansion of some of our existing on-site
Preview Centers, is a result of time we spent last year learning the intricacies of how to market and sell points.
We are now reaping the benefits of that learning experience and are very confident in, and proud of, the product
we painstakingly designed for our owners and members," added Shelly Ginsburg, Managing Director, Shell Vacations
LLC.
With nine Off-Site Preview Centers and 14 resorts located in Hawaii, California, Arizona, and Canada, Shell Vacations
LLC is one of the nation's largest independent vacation ownership operators serving close to 60,000 owner/members.
The company is expected to reach annual net vacation ownership sales in excess of $100 million in 2001.
