NORTHBROOK, IL -- Shell Vacations Club Southwest has recently promoted industry veteran John M.Carter to Project
Director for its New Mexico Region.
In his new position, Carter has assumed executive leadership responsibilities and will direct all sales and marketing
activities in New Mexico. He will also coordinate Shell’s future expansion into other states in the Southwestern
region in the U.S. He was previously the area’s Regional Director of Marketing.
Carter will also provide leadership for the company’s sales center, located in the Traditions Festival Marketplace
between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. The Marketplace features local artisans specializing in New Mexico’s culture
and heritage. The new Project Director will also oversee Shell’s alliance with Heritage Hotels, which allows Shell
Vacation Club owners from around the world vacation opportunities throughout New Mexico, that they previously could
not enjoy. The Heritage Hotels are a collection of five New Mexico hotels and suite hotels dedicated to the traditional
heritage and culture of New Mexico.
The Point-based Shell Vacations Club Southwest will offer its members usage at the two Heritage properties in Santa
Fe, two in Albuquerque and one in Las Cruces.
With more than a dozen years experience in the vacation ownership and hospitality industries, Carter began his
career in Hawaii working with various outside marketing companies prior to being selected as Director of marketing
for Consolidated Resorts. Before joining Shell over a year ago, he serve d as Director of Marketing for Sunterra
Resorts in Sante Fe.
According to Dr. Simon Crawford-Welch, Shell’s Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, “John Carter’s extensive
marketing experience and leadership abilities will be a tremendous asset as we expand our operations throughout
the Southwest.
With nine off site Preview Centers and 14 resorts located in California, Hawaii, Arizona and Canada, Shell Vacation
is one of the nation’s largest independently owned vacation ownership developers, serving more than 50,000 owners.
The company is expected to reach net sales in excess of $100 million this year.
