LAS VEGAS (AP) - Strip megaresorts expect large numbers of empty hotel rooms this weekend, as tens of thousands
of travelers stay away because of Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The reasons: domestic airport closures, curtailed flight schedules and the fears of potential travelers who have
seen horrific images of passenger jets slamming into the twin towers.
"The entire country is staying home, watching TV, keeping up to date on developments," Boyd Gaming Corp.
spokesman Rob Stillwell said. "People want to sit tight."
