November 12, 2001
NEW YORK, NY --- Beginning Friday, PricewaterhouseCoopers and HOTEL BUSINESS® will offer links to their respective
websites: lodgingresearch.com and hotelbusiness.com. This is first time either organization has linked with another
organization of this type.
The links will offer subscribers the opportunity to receive both news and data from HOTEL BUSINESS® and PricewaterhouseCoopers
http://www.lodgingresearch.com.
Last month, PricewaterhouseCoopers redesigned lodgingresearch.com to use new technology to feature PricewaterhouseCoopers
research and to make a small number of the best sources of news and data easily available to clients and subscribers.
LodgingResearch.com provides all of PricewaterhouseCoopers research, including: U.S. industry research briefings,
lodging industry forecasts, white papers, PricewaterhouseCoopers Hospitality Directions, U.S. and European editions
and recent press releases.
HOTEL BUSINESS® re-launched hotelbusiness.com in August 2000 to provide the industry with the latest breaking
news and exclusive features along with a daily E-mail featuring original content. http://www.hotelbusiness.com
posts more than 30 stories each and every day.
``We chose to offer the hotelbusiness.com link on our site after conducting a survey of clients and subscribers.
These survey results showed that hotelbusiness.com has many highly valued attributes, including quality; original
feature stories; breaking news stories; and, ease of use and impressive appearance,'' said Bjorn Hanson, Ph.D.,
global industry leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers Hospitality & Leisure Practice.
``We are thrilled to establish a link with PricewaterhouseCoopers lodgingresearch.com,'' said Stacy Silver, Group
Publisher of hotelbusiness.com. ``More than ever before, information is the currency for sound decision-making,
and PwC offers users the best research on the lodging industry by applying statistics and econometrics to numerous
topics. The combination of these two sites will allow users to click back and forth between the two most highly
regarded and well-respected sites in the industry.''
HOTEL BUSINESS® magazine is the hospitality industry's leading news publication, reaching nearly 45,000 key
decision-makers including owners, general managers, management company and financial executives. The publication,
launched in 1992, celebrates its 10th anniversary this coming year.
PricewaterhouseCoopers is the leader in econometric modeling and providing what has proved to be highly predictive
U.S. lodging industry forecasts. The group was first to predict every turning point in the last ten years, usually
more than a year in advance.
In July 2000, PricewaterhouseCoopers issued a forecast for dramatic RevPAR declines in many major cities by mid
2001. It was non-consensus and widely criticized at the time, but once again, PricewaterhouseCoopers' forecast
was correct.
