Press Release: Wyndham International
November 9, 2001
DALLAS, TX -- Wyndham International, Inc. (NYSE:WYN) proudly announces its selection as the winner of the 2001
Hospitality Technology Lodging Award for IT Operator of the Year, and the prestigious InformationWeek 500. Both
honors were a result of Wyndham's ongoing commitment to several IT initiatives, including wireless reservations,
curbside wireless check-in and the Wyndham ByRequest® guest recognition program.
The two awards arrive on the heels of the prestigious 2001 CIO-100 award from CIO magazine that Wyndham was honored
with in August, making the hotel company a three-time award winner this year in hotel technology and innovation.
The Hospitality Technology and InformationWeek 500 annual awards select companies that demonstrate a commitment
to customer value and a pattern of technological, procedural, and organizational innovation, respectively.
The annual Hospitality Technology awards recognize the top companies in the hospitality industry that exemplify
a strong technological background. Wyndham has led the U.S. hotel industry with its commitment to add value to
the customer experience through technological advances that positively impact every aspect of a guest's hotel stay.
For more than a decade, the InformationWeek 500 has tracked the IT agendas of the nation's largest and most innovative
IT organizations, providing a unique opportunity to understand and examine their business practices across core
areas of operations. To obtain a spot in this annual ranking, companies must demonstrate a pattern of technological,
procedural, and organizational innovation. Only companies based in the United States with at least $1 billion in
annual revenue may participate.
``We continuously strive to exceed in the research and implementation of the most up-to-date technologies to provide
our guests with the superior products and services they've come to expect from Wyndham,'' says Mark Hedley, senior
vice president and chief technology officer, Wyndham International. ``It's an honor to be a three-time award winner
this year for our business services and products and to be recognized by the high-caliber of publications such
as Hospitality Technology, InformationWeek and CIO. These awards exemplify to our guests and the hotel industry
our commitment to providing innovative technologies to meet and exceed guest expectations and to be considered
the leading hotel company in the technology category.''
Wyndham's sophisticated proprietary technology allows guests to fill out an online personal profile by visiting
the Wyndham Web site or calling the Wyndham ByRequest member line. It also tracks personal profiles of all ByRequest
members through a customer information network, and allows guests to update their personal profiles via the secure
Wyndham Web page, wireless personal digital assistants (PDAs) or Web-enabled cell phones. Additional Wyndham technological
advancements include a wireless reservation system, curbside check-in and check out, as well as in-room high-speed
Internet access.
