Fastest-Growing FFP in China Adds Marriott to Loyalty Team

Press Release: China Southern Airlines
November 8, 2001
GUANGZHOU, China -- China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH; HKSE:1055), the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, announced that Marriott International (NYSE:MAR - news) has joined The Sky Pearl Club, the largest and fastest-growing frequent flyer program in China.

``We are extremely honored to have an organization with the international reputation of Marriott join our Sky Pearl Club Frequent Flyer Program,'' said Wang Changshun, president, China Southern Airlines, adding that ``having Marriott as part of our program will provide a wealth of all-new travel benefits for our FFP Club members.''

Speaking for Marriott, Kent Maury, regional vice president, Sales and Marketing, said, ``We have been working on a number of marketing initiatives with China Southern Airlines for some time now. They are a terrific partner, and we are delighted to be represented in the Sky Pearl Club.''

Starting Nov. 15, 2001, Sky Pearl Club members can begin earning free FFP mileage from their stay at any participating Marriott-branded hotels.

Sky Pearl Club members will earn mileage points when they present their membership card upon check-in at a designated hotel under the Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard and New World brands.

Members paying listed price, corporate rates or special corporate rates will earn 800 km of mileage points for each stay. Those paying local PRC national rates or special promotional rates can earn 400 km worth of mileage points for each stay.

In addition, from Nov. 15, 2001, through Jan. 31, 2002, all FFP mileage earned at selected Marriott properties will double.

Mileage earned under the new China Southern Airlines/Marriott partnership can be combined with mileage points generated from other resources (including China Southern Airlines flights, card spending, other branded hotels, etc.) to redeem free airline tickets or upgrades on China Southern Airlines.

The participation of Marriott International in China Southern Airlines' frequent flyer program is the start of an important new relationship between the two travel organizations, as China Southern Sky Pearl Club members will be awarded mileage points for staying at Marriott-managed hotels in China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Vietnam and the Philippines.
