Press Release: Atinera
November 7, 2001
SAN FRANCISCO & SYDNEY, Australia -- Atinera, a global provider of travel automation and management systems,
today announced that it has acquired Atlas from Amadeus Australia. Atlas was created in 1984, has approximately
65 employees and currently delivers hosted solutions to nearly 20 tour operators and travel suppliers across Australia.
The Atlas system processes close to one million passengers per year for its customers.
Atinera will integrate the Atlas team into its global operations. The majority of technical support and ongoing
development for the Asia/Pacific region will be managed from the Brisbane Technical Support and Development Centre.
Existing Atlas customers will migrate to the Atinera platform beginning in 2002.
Atinera provides a state-of-the art, quick-to-deploy hosted travel management solution that allows tour operators
and suppliers of any size to take advantage of powerful web-enabled automation and business integration tools.
The Atinera system allows products to be sold across multiple channels (GDS, Web, call centers, etc.), with different
price and commission structures, and in different currencies.
``In Atlas, Atinera is acquiring a cash-positive business with the infrastructure, experience and support in place
to enjoy continued growth in the market,'' commented Sean Cummins, Managing Director of Atinera Asia Pacific. ``The
Atinera solution is technically superior to the current Atlas system and very competitively priced for the local
market. Our customers, and as a result traveling consumers, will reap the benefits.''
``Atlas and Amadeus have built an experienced team of travel systems professionals and a strong customer base that
are now part of Atinera,'' said Yuri Vizitei, President and CEO of Atinera Holding. ``Atlas has a proven track
record in the marketplace of exceeding customers' expectations and providing world-class management solutions,
and Atinera will continue that tradition.''
