Press Release: MICROS Systems, Inc.
May 16, 2001
COLUMBIA, MD -- MICROS Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for
the hospitality industry, has been selected to provide its 9700 Hospitality Management System for the plush Atlantis,
Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas, owned and operated by Sun International. This Windows NT-based solution
will support the 2,317-room resort's many restaurants, bars and lounges, and other revenue centers.
The MICROS 9700 Hospitality Management System (HMS) is a cost-effective, highly usable point-of-sale system built
on an open systems architectural platform. It is specifically designed to handle a high volume, multiple revenue
center environment. The 9700 HMS can produce up-to-the-minute customized reports in real time, and allows multiple
users to operate other software programs while the system is in use. The system can also automate specific utilities,
allowing reports and other functions to run at the same time each day, unattended.
``We chose the MICROS 9700 HMS because it best fits our corporate needs for technology, migration and return on
investment,'' stated Desmond Parker, Director of Information Technology, of Sun International. ``Much of our staff
is proficient in the NT environment; for this reason, we required an NT-based POS solution to minimize training
costs and time. We also did not want to make a new investment in hardware and cabling. MICROS is able to install
the 9700 HMS with only a switch of servers and software, easing to transition quickly and cost efficiently.''
Jenny Kurdle, MICROS Vice President of Leisure and Entertainment Business Development, affirmed the benefits of
the 9700 HMS for resort properties. ``The 9700 HMS continues the MICROS tradition of providing products with superior
performance, scalability and reliability, along with an attractive migration path for our existing customers. The
Windows® NT platform offers our customers excellent functionality and facilitates future infrastructure upgrades,''
she explained. ``This is a system our customers can count on as a long-term solution as their POS needs change
and expand.''
