Press Release: Celebrity Cruises
May 7, 2001
MIAMI, FL -- Celebrity Cruises has announced that the next ship in its Millennium-class fleet will be named Constellation.
The fourth in Celebrity's series of four 1,950-guest Millennium-class ships, Constellation will bring the Celebrity
fleet to a total of nine ships.
Constellation will make its maiden voyage in May 2002, embarking on a series of European itineraries which will
be announced when bookings for Constellation's inaugural season open later this month.
``Constellation will be yet another magnificent Celebrity ship designed with our sophisticated guests' desires
in mind,'' said Celebrity Cruises President Rick Sasso. ``In the Celebrity tradition, Constellation will offer
the most innovative concepts afloat.''
Like its sister ships -- Celebrity's Millennium, Infinity, and Summit -- Constellation will offer a conservatory,
a distinctive and serene botanical environment featuring the creations of floral designer Emilio Robba of Paris;
the industry's largest and most luxurious suites; 80 percent ocean-view staterooms, 74 percent with verandas; museum-quality
contemporary art collections; AquaSpa(SM), offering exotic treatments on a par with the world's finest land-based
spas, from the elite Elemis Ltd.; COVA Cafe Milano, the seagoing version of Milan's fashionable coffeehouse; a
relaxing music library; Michael's Club cigar bar, featuring hand-rolled cigars and fine cognacs; an intimate specialty
restaurant offering elegant tableside cooking and carving, and other dining venues featuring the award-winning
cuisine of renowned Master Chef Michel Roux.
Following Millennium's lead in becoming the industry's first cruise ship to incorporate gas turbine engines, Constellation
also will operate on that smokeless propulsion system, which reduces exhaust emissions by up to 90 percent.
Like its sister Millennium-class ships, Constellation is being built to Panamax standards to enable Panama and
Suez Canal transits for international deployment.
Celebrity Cruises is the highest-rated premium cruise line in the industry and has the youngest fleet of any major
cruise line. Celebrity's eighth ship, Summit, launches this Fall, and Constellation will make its maiden voyage
in May 2002. For more information, visit the Celebrity web site at www.celebritycruises.com.
