WICHITA, KS -- Ground was recently broken for a new Candlewood Suites in Columbia, Mo., the second Candlewood in
the state. The hotel is expected to open in October.
The new property is owned and operated by Hawkeye Hospitality of Burlington, Iowa, under a license agreement with
Candlewood Hotel Co., of Wichita, Kan. Mid-Am Construction Management of Columbia, Mo., is building the hotel at
3100 Wingate Court.
Candlewood Suites offers larger-than-average guest suites perfectly suited for business travelers, and loaded with
amenities. The new hotel will feature 81 suites: 32 studios, 17 one-bedrooms, and 32 studio doubles. Each suite
includes a complete kitchen, oversized recliner, 25-inch television, large business desk, adjustable executive
chair, and two phone lines including data port.
Amenities include free local phone calls and incoming faxes, free laundry facilities, low-cost long distance, 25-cent
soft drinks, free video and CD checkouts and an upscale exercise room. Food items, snacks and sundries are available
24-hours-a-day at grocery store prices from the honor-based Candlewood Cupboard pantry.
Bob Patel is president of Hawkeye Hospitality. The company owns and operates hotels throughout Illinois, Indiana,
Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
