Press Release
March 19, 2001
DENALI NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE, Alaska -- The National Park Service and concessioner in Denali National Park
and Preserve have launched two new significantly upgraded Web sites.
Both Web sites provide essential information in easy, accessible formats on the 6-million-acre park in Alaska.
The National Park Service's new Web site, www.nps.gov/dena/home, offers
expanded information about campsites and park transportation services (private vehicles are restricted). The new
Web site also provides essential information on mountaineering and climbing information about Mount McKinley, the
highest mountain in North America.
The concessioner's Web site, www.denalinationalpark.com, provides
travelers with information about park activities, lodging and dining as well as transportation options to Denali.
Information on wildlife and natural history tours, whitewater rafting and float trips is also provided.
Shuttle buses and tour buses operated by Denali Park Resorts, the park's concessioner, provide transportation into
the park. To control impact on wildlife populations, private vehicles are restricted on the sole gateway, a 90-mile
road into the park.
Visitors can best experience Denali by taking a natural history tour. Three-hour natural history tours are structured
to provide travelers with compelling stories, strong facts and memorable impressions. Passengers on the half-day
Denali natural history tour experience a living history presentation at Savage Cabin. There, colorful characters
reappear to share stories from Denali's rich past.
Denali Park Resorts, as authorized by the National Park Service, operates tours and transportation into the park
along with three resort properties inside and at the entrance of the national park. Information is also available
at 800/276-7234.
