Press Release
June 14, 2001
Copper Mountain, CO -- The success of young golfers like Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia has created a newfound popularity
in the game of golf. Young duffers around the world are flocking to golf courses to learn and master the sport.
In an attempt to help nurture this phenomenon, and to promote golf as a lifelong endeavor, the Copper Creek Junior
Golf Program has been created to help Summit County kids excel at the game.
Copper Creek is now offering Summit County juniors between the ages of six and sixteen a 10-play, 9-hole punch
card for only $75. In addition, the professional staff at Copper Creek will host free junior golf instructional
clinics on June 21 and June 28, 2001 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. These sessions will focus on long and short game techniques
as well as rules and etiquette within the game. Private and group junior lessons will also be available throughout
the season at a discounted rate.
Three junior golf competitions have also been slated for this summer, allowing golfers to utilize their new skills
in a competitive environment. The competitions will be formatted and structured according to age and the number
of participants. The series kicks off on July 10, 2001 with an individual low gross score competition. A parent/child
event will take place on July 22, 2001 and a junior championship will finish off the summer on August 14, 2001.
Copper Creek Golf Club is currently open with 18 holes ready for play. A fully stocked golf shop, rental equipment,
practice facilities and first-rate instruction is available through PGA certified Professional David Twohig and
his staff. For more information on the Copper Creek Golf Club and the Copper Creek Junior Golf Program, call (970)
