The owners of the Aladdin were granted an extension through Tuesday on the payment of $8.7 million to close a financial
shortfall in the Strip megaresort's operations, a knowledgeable source said Thursday.
Representatives of the Sommer Family Trust and London Clubs International have been talking with their bankers
about pushing that extension through July 31 and hope to point to improving profits as they seek an overhaul of
the payment requirements, the source said.
"This whole thing is viewed as a very positive move because it indicates that people are seeing light at the
end of the tunnel," the source said. "The banks would not have done it if there was a continued air of
negativity."
