Press Release: CuisinArt Resort & Spa
July 9, 2001
NEW YORK, NY -- CuisinArt Resort & Spa on Anguilla in the British West Indies has launched a wellness/longevity
program designed to maximize physical/mental well-being in the decidedly non-Puritanical setting of a luxury Caribbean
resort.
``Taking Control the CuisinArt Way'' is an 11-day/10-night interactive retreat for up to only 20 participants to
launch Aug. 4 and to be held once monthly from November 2001 and throughout 2002. Each retreat combines nutrition,
exercise, body pampering, therapeutic and medical guidance to position clients to take control of their own total
well-being. The Aug. 4-14 rate is $4,995 per person double, $6,495 single. From Nov. 3-13 and Dec. 1-11, the rate
is $5,700 double, $7,400 single; and from Jan. 5-15, Feb. 2-12 and Mar. 2-12, 2002 the rate is $7,995 per person
double and $9,995 single.
Retreat rate components include nightly accommodation, daily nutrient-rich and low-fat meals (three), lectures,
interactive workshops, nutritional/behavioral analysis/counseling, metabolic rate/fitness assessments, minimally
five spa treatments, exercise/weight training and more.
CuisinArt Resort & Spa is a member of Leading Small Hotels of the World. For reservations and information,

``The goal,'' said Graham Dundas Simpson, M.D., keynote advisor to the program, ``is to create new awareness and
therefore new patterns of behavior and attitude that can direct the mind and body toward a healthier, longer life.''
Dr. Simpson's retreat team includes Kathy Eggleston, Spa Director, program administrator; Howard M. Resh, Ph.D.,
author of Hydroponic Food Production now in its 6th printing, creator and supervisor of the resort's on-premise
Hydroponic Farm, retreat nutrition resource specialist/lecturer; Peter Vasilis, Fitness Director; Denis Jaricot,
Executive Chef; and David Flack, General Manager.
Each retreat shows candidates how to discover and integrate the ideal conditions leading to the realization and
preservation of a maximum state of physical and mental well being, says Dr. Simpson.
A process of ``walking the walk'' toward looking and feeling their best ``jump starts clients into a life-long
exercise, relaxation, nutritional and weight loss regime that emphasizes joy over a puritanical approach demonstrated
in similarly serious stateside clinics,'' Simpson says. He notes that demonstrable results may include weight loss,
stress reduction and body tone/flexibility simply through understanding and applying a myriad of healthy lifestyle
choices and enhancements available in the 21st century.
Guests are active throughout with exercises, lectures, demonstrations and spa treatments that, while pampering,
help attune the body to feeling good. This integrative approach over 11 days/10 nights is enough time, says Dr.
Simpson, to tune into long-forgotten or never understood ways of being. Once these feelings are integrated, change
can begin through motivation and the creation of new habits.
EPIPHANY SPURS NEW PROGRAM
``Taking Control the CuisinArt Way'' is the brainchild of Lee Rizzuto, the owner of CONAIR Corporation and Cuisinart
who participated in a trial retreat early this summer. He reports that he is convinced that providing an agreeable
setting such as CuisinArt Resort & Spa facilitates the concentration and energy required to motivate people
to make lifestyle changes toward healthier, longer lives and creates a jump start to healthier living.
``We're not into the 'boot camp' mentality exhibited by other equally serious programs,'' says Rizzuto. ``I believe
that we can accomplish as much as -- or more than -- other institutions, simply because of our facilities and setting.''
Rizzuto says his research incorporates the commitment of well-known institutional wellness/longevity programs in
the United States while embracing the attributes of existing facilities at the resort such as an on-premise Hydroponic
Farm and a freestanding Spa with a dedicated staff of 12.
